Assistant Professor
Adria graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Renssalaer Polytechnic Institute with a BS in Biology and a minor in Psychology. She was recognized as an Archimedean Scholar, awarded to the institute’s highest academic achieving students. She then attended Albany Medical College where she earned her MD with a Distinction in Research for her project titled, Inflammatory Bowel Disease-Associated Cytokines Control Wnt Expression in the Intestinal Stem Cell Niche: Implications for Mucosal Healing. Adria received the Janet M. Glasgow Memorial Award given to an Albany Medical College woman student graduating as the top scholar in their class. She also received a Recognition for Excellence in Learning to Teach, Teaching to Learn. During medical school Adria served on the AMA Committee of Bioethics and Humanities. She was elected to co-vice chair the committee for the 2020-2021 term and to chair the programming subcommittee. Adria helped plan and moderate the programs “End of Life Care: The Role of Medical Aid in Dying” for the 2018 AMA Interim meeting; “A question of Ethics: Perspectives on End-of-Life Care and the Role of Medical Aid in Dying” for the 2019 AMA Annual Meeting; and “Seeking Mental Health Care as Physicians and Future Physicians” for the 2019 AMA Interim meeting. She led the proposals for two programs accepted for the November 2020 AMA Interim Meeting: “Building Bridges: Repairing Trust Between Health Professionals and Communities of Color” and “Two Sides of the Same Coin: End of Life During COVID-19 for Patients and Healthcare Professionals.” She also submitted a photograph to the AMA Committee on Bioethics and Humanities Literary Magazine that was on exhibit at 2019 AMA Interim Meeting.
After medical school, Adria went to The Ohio State University for her Internal Medicine residency where she received the Humanism Award given to the resident who is recognized by their peers to most demonstrate humanistic qualities of an internist. Adria then came out West where she recently completed HPM fellow at UCLA. We are thrilled that Adria is joining the DPM as a faculty member! Adria will care for patients in the SMS and on the inpatient PCS.
