Nurse Practitioner and Associate Director, Symptom Management Service

Nancy Shepard Lopez is an assistant director of the Symptom Management Service at the Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center as well as an associate clinical professor with the Department of Physiological Nursing at UCSF School of Nursing. She specializes in oncology, including solid tumor and hematologic malignancies. As a member of the Symptom Management Service team, she also works on pain, symptom management and quality of life issues.

Lopez received a Bachelor of Science in nursing from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn., and a master's degree in oncology nursing from UCSF. She is an active member of the Oncology Nursing Society, having served as local chapter president, presented at national meetings and helped develop the evidence-based guideline on the management of anorexia.
